To 109 mm. Shell fusiform with bulbous whorls, teleoconch reaching nine complete whorls, aperture about 50% of shell length. Color pattern of orange or brownish-orange flammules on a cream-white background and 2–3 dark-brown spiral lines; eight dark-brown spiral lines on last whorl. Cinctura tortugana is a close relative of the common Banded Tulip (Cinctura hunteria) by its more slender shape, less bulbous whorls, and more vivid coloration of orange or brownish-orange shapes on a whitish background. This fresh-dead shell, found by Ken Piech on Gulfside City Park (Algiers Beach) on Sanibel, possibly represents the first record of Cinctura tortugana in Lee County.
